The Hopfendankfest is Cologne's colourful celebration of the hop harvest, held at the Gebäude 9 cultural venue. Visitors can discover many interesting beers from international breweries alongside regional home and hobby brewers, with beer tastings, food pairings and food trucks throughout the day. Unlike a trade fair, the Hopfendankfest is built around meeting the makers in person and learning about beer from raw materials and brewing through to storage, sensory analysis and tasting across many styles. It is a warm, community-minded craft event that complements a Cologne BeerTrip with a contemporary, hands-on counterpoint to the city's traditional Kölsch culture.
